The challenge

4am Robotics GmbH is an expert in autonomous mobile robots for intralogistics.

4am Robotics GmbH specializes in autonomous forklift trucks, cobots and tugger trains that automate the flow of goods flexibly, safely and always available from end to end and reduce complexity. Existing vehicles are converted to autonomous vehicles in the shortest possible time and equipped with the appropriate software for their tasks.

At the start of the new project for a Bavarian car manufacturer, lithium-ion batteries were required for the vehicles. The company had not previously used lithium-ion batteries in forklift trucks and was therefore looking for a suitable supplier.

A look inside: Lithium-ion battery from Allgäu Batterie

The solution

The company was already familiar with Allgäu Batterie from the lead traction battery sector. When selecting a suitable supplier, it was particularly important to 4am Robotics that they had a German contact and that the safe use of the lithium-ion battery was guaranteed. Another requirement for the product was the connection to the specified charging contacts. Allgäu Batterie was chosen due to its attractive service conditions, fast support and high-quality products, which made the difference to the competition.

A framework agreement for the lithium-ion batteries and ALLtrac Plus chargers was concluded in May 2023. The contract covers the delivery of a total of 200 batteries in three voltage classes (24, 48, 80V) with matching chargers and a full service contract with an extended warranty.

The first batteries were delivered in September 2023 and further batteries can be called up until 2026.
